Laser cells/enclosures

When working with high-power lasers, whether for industrial manufacturing or research purposes, safety is one of the most important aspects to consider. Laser cells, or laser safety rooms, offer an advanced solution for protecting personnel and equipment from the hazards associated with laser radiation.

What is a laser cell/enclosure?

A laser cell is a specially designed enclosure intended to contain laser systems and protect the surrounding area from harmful laser radiation. These rooms are built with materials and construction techniques that effectively absorb and block laser beams, preventing them from causing damage outside the enclosure.

Why use laser cells?

  • Personnel safety: Laser cells protect personnel from harmful exposure to high-power laser radiation.
  • Equipment protection: Enclosing lasers in a safe room reduces the risk of damage to surrounding equipment.
  • Regulatory compliance: Laser cells are designed to meet international laser safety standards, helping companies comply with regulatory safety requirements.
  • Flexibility and customization: These rooms can be quickly designed, built, and installed to suit specific needs and environments.

SafeCIII

We at Laser Machining have also developed our own laser cell which we call SafeCIII.
It comes as a standard 3x3 meter cell but can be equipped with wall sides to match the customer's length needs.
The cell is equipped with a camera inside the cell and a screen on the outside to see what is happening inside the cell. The doors have interlock switches that stop the machine if the doors are opened, this to increase safety.
The cell is developed to be "plug and play" together with the LightWELD handheld laser welder but it can be used for all types of laser applications.
